TORONTO — (Dec. 9, 2008) — Data Deposit Box, a leading online backup and storage provider, is offering a bit of holiday cheer to beleaguered small business owners this year. The first 100 new business customers to sign up with Data Deposit Box between December 9 and December 31 will receive a Small Business Survival Kit to help them weather the chilly economic climate. To be eligible for the kit, users must sign up for the service using promotional code JDP08.

“We understand that now is a time of tremendous concern and uncertainty for small businesses, and people are looking for ways to protect their companies,” said Jamie Brenzel, CEO of Data Deposit Box (www.datadepositbox.com). “Backing up mission-critical data is essential, and because online backup is affordable and effortless, business owners can rest assured that their data is safe and focus on other pressing matters during these tough times.”

In October, the Index of Small Business Optimism reached its third lowest reading in the survey’s 35-year history, according to the National Federation of Independent Business.

Continued Brenzel: “Fortunately there are a number of things business owners can do to strengthen their defenses, from bolstering employee morale to shoring up IT.”

The Data Deposit Box Small Business Survival Kit contents include:
• A 50% discount for new business customers for the life of their service after their first six months using Data Deposit Box
• Branded jumpdrives, mugs and other gifts for the office
• Small Business Tips for pinching pennies in tough times
• Gourmet coffee and candies to help keep employees going

Recipients of the kits also will be entered to win one of five Kodak Easy Share digital cameras.

Data Deposit Box Launches Operations in Spain

TORONTO — (Sept. 30, 2008) — Online data storage and backup service Data Deposit Box launched today in Spain, where it will be known as Zendal Backup. The Spain launch is the latest in Data Deposit Box’s international expansion, particularly in areas where broadband growth is skyrocketing.

The company’s reach has been growing rapidly overseas, with six languages currently supported, including English, Danish, French, German, Spanish and Swedish. Data Deposit Box has also added support for merchant accounts in Europe using DIBS Payment Services, enabling wholesale partners to launch their ecommerce businesses in Denmark (http://www.saveme.dk/) and Spain (http://www.zendalbackup.com/).

The international expansion has occurred in direct correlation to the growing number of broadband users internationally. For example, 70 to 80 percent of residents in Scandinavian countries have broadband access, and of the 410 million files Data Deposit Box has backed up, nearly seven million files have been backed up in each Denmark and Sweden.

In fact, customer numbers in Denmark and Sweden are growing at 110 percent year over year, a five-percent increase over growth in the U.S. Data Deposit Box works with solution providers in each country.

“Data protection is obviously not only something that affects the U.S. and Canada,” says Jamie Brenzel, CEO of Data Deposit Box. “As broadband use grows and we think more about the global marketplace, it becomes increasingly important to back up data with a secure, encrypted online backup provider. Companies around the world need to be able to access that data anytime, anywhere securely.”

Brenzel also believes that having a remote data center based in Canada is attractive to customers. In addition to continual data encryption, Data Deposit Box customers’ information is largely safe from natural disaster. Unlike parts of the U.S. and Europe, Toronto’s weather patterns are stable year round. The Toronto-based data center provides added security from another factor as well.

“Canada does not have the privacy issues that came into play in the U.S. after September 11, such as border agents being allowed to confiscate laptops when entering the country, so many customers feel more secure knowing their data can be accessed remotely from Canada,” says Brenzel.

Data Deposit Box Launches Open Files Driver

TORONTO — (Sept. 4, 2008) — Online backup and storage provider Data Deposit Box (www.datadepositbox.com) has enhanced its online backup service with the launch of its Open Files Driver, which is designed specifically to protect open and in-use files. Data Deposit Box customers will receive an email with the option to install the Open Files driver, which can be downloaded in minutes. While Data Deposit Box has always provided continuous backup for all other data files, the program now also automatically backs up all open files every twelve hours so that no files will be lost or left unprotected.

Open Files is a particularly useful feature for applications typically left open for long periods of time, such as Outlook, QuickBooks and Simply Accounting.

“In the past, open and in-use files were skipped during the backup process,” said Jamie Brenzel, CEO of Data Deposit Box. “Rolling out Open Files is another part of our commitment to providing our customers with the most comprehensive data protection possible. Unlike some of our competitors’ programs, our Open Files Driver will not be offered as a separate service or at extra cost, but rather as a necessary and integral part of our standard service.”
